Q: What instruments can I backtest for options?
You can backtest options strategies on Nifty and BankNifty indices using 5+ years of historical data (2019-2024).
Q: What strategy templates are available?
AlgoShot provides popular options strategy templates including straddle, strangle, iron condor, butterfly, and more. You can also create custom strategies by configuring your own entry/exit conditions, stoploss, and targets.
Q: How does paper trading work for options?
Once you've backtested a strategy, you can deploy it in paper trading mode. The strategy runs automatically on live market data each trading day, simulating real trades without risking actual capital.
3. Equity Investing
Q: What is result-based backtesting?
Result-based backtesting lets you test equity investment strategies based on quarterly earnings data. You can define criteria like revenue growth, profit margins, and EPS changes, then see how stocks matching those criteria would have performed historically since 2019.
Q: What is the quarterly results screener?
The screener helps you filter stocks based on their latest quarterly results. You can set criteria for earnings growth, revenue, profit margins, and other fundamental metrics to find stocks that match your investment thesis.
Q: What are paper orders?
Paper orders work like GTT (Good Till Triggered) orders but without real money. You can set buy or sell orders at specific price levels, and they'll trigger automatically when the price is reached. You get unlimited paper orders with alert notifications.
Q: Can I track my watchlist and get alerts?
Yes, you can add stocks to your watchlist and set up price alerts. You'll receive notifications when your tracked stocks hit specified price levels or when your paper orders are triggered.
